Handling a Device Crash

Check the power supply of the shelf and the running status of the main control board in case of a device crash.

Context

Handle the fault according to the basic process shown in Figure 1.

Symptom

A device crashes in either of the following conditions:

ϒ⁄All indicators on the device are off.

ϒ⁄The system restarts repeatedly.

Procedure

1.Check whether the power supply is functioning properly.

Remove the power cable and re-insert it. Check whether the fault is recitified.

ϒ⁄If the fault is recitified, proceed to 4.

ϒ⁄If the fault is not recitified, proceed to the next step.

2.Check whether the main control board is functioning properly.

ϒ⁄Restart the system and view the ALM indicator status on the board panel.

ϒ⁄If the ALM indicator is off, the main control board is functioning properly. Proceed to 4.

ϒ⁄If the ALM indicator blinks, the main control board malfunctions. Proceed to the next step.

ϒ⁄Remove the faulty board and re-insert it. Check whether the fault is rectified.

ϒ⁄If the fault is rectified, proceed to 4.

ϒ⁄If the fault is not rectified, proceed to the next step.

ϒ⁄Remove the faulty board and insert a backup board.

Check whether the fault is rectified.

ϒ⁄If the fault is rectified, proceed to 4.

ϒ⁄If the fault is not rectified, proceed to the next step.

3.Obtain technical support.

If you fail to rectify the fault following the emergency fault handling process, collect related fault information and contact your service provider for technical support.

4.Output a fault handling report.
