This topic describes how to configure the trunk-based call restriction.

Context

To control calls that go through trunks, the unified gateway assigns the following rights to trunks:

ϒ⁄Inter: intra-office call.

ϒ⁄Local: local call.

ϒ⁄DDD: national toll call.

ϒ⁄IDD: international toll call.

The trunk-based call restriction prevents a user from making outgoing calls after making an incoming call to the unified gateway, which forms toll fraud. For example, a PSTN user may dial 0xxx instead of an extension number after the user calls the unified gateway switchboard through the E1/T1 trunk.

In the trunk-based call restriction scenario, call restriction varies according to trunk and calling number prefix as follows:

ϒ⁄If you do not limit the call right for the trunk or the calling number prefix, the call is allowed.

ϒ⁄If you limit the outgoing call right for the trunk and calling number prefix at the same time, the call is restricted.

By combining the two outgoing call rights, the unified gateway can restrict some incoming calls of a trunk, while allows incoming calls of specified calling parties.

In the V2.0 and later versions, the unified gateway can restrict the time that a specified calling party can use a specified trunk. For example, calling party A can use trunks 1 and 2 for unlimited time, and calling party B can use trunk 1 for 15 minutes and trunk 2 for 30 minutes.

The system supports outgoing call time limits for the following trunks: SIP, QSIG, PRA, SS7, R2, and AT0.

When a calling party makes outgoing calls through trunks, multiple trunks can be configured. However, you can configure the call time limits only for a maximum of 16 trunks.

Scenario 1: Trunk-based Call Restriction

Assume that the unified gateway connects to the PSTN through the PRA trunk. The outgoing prefix is 9. The called number change rule is deleting the first digit 9. The following requirements must be met:

ϒ⁄After a PSTN user dials the switchboard number of an enterprise, the unified gateway restricts the outgoing calls made by the user by dialing 9 + Called number.

ϒ⁄After a PSTN user calls an intra-office user, the intra-office user can call back by pressing the callback key.

Verification (Scenario 1)

Task

Operation

Result

Make a call to a PSTN number by pressing the callback key as a switchboard user.

Pick up the phone and press the callback key after a PSTN user makes a call to the automatic switchboard.

The call fails.

Make a call to a PSTN number by pressing the callback key as an intra-office user.

Pick up the phone and press the callback key after a PSTN user makes a call to the intra-office user.

The call is connected.

Scenario 2: Trunk-based Call Time Limit

Calling party 6000 can make an outgoing call through trunk of office route 0 for a maximum of 15 minutes and through trunk of office route 1 for maximum of 30 minutes.

Procedure (Scenario 2)

1.Log in to the web management system. For details, see Logging In to the Web Management System.

2.Choose Trunk > Trunk-based Call Time Limit Index, click Create, and configure mapping between trunk-based call time limit indexes and trunks.

A maximum of 255 trunk-based call time limit indexes can be configured.

3.On the User > SIP User or User > POTS User page, select the user number for which you want to configure the service and click Service Configuration.

4.In the Complex service area, click Configure next to Trunk-based Call Time Limit, click Create, and configure trunk-based call time limit indexes.

A maximum of 16 trunk-based call time limit indexes can be associated with each user.

5.In the upper right corner of the web page, click U1900_cfgg_images_f_u1960_cfgg_01205_01 to save the configuration.

Verification (Scenario 2)

User 6000 makes an outgoing call through trunk of office route 0, an announcement is played indicating that only 1 minute of call time is left when the call duration reaches 14 minutes, and the call is ended when the call duration reaches 15 minutes. If the user makes an outgoing call again and the call is routed through trunk of office route 1, the call duration is recalculated. Similar restriction is imposed on outgoing calls through trunk of office route 1.
