E1/T1 Trunk Exception

This topic describes how to troubleshoot E1/T1 trunk exceptions.

Symptom

E1/T1 trunk faults are as follows:

ϒ⁄An LOS indicator light is on.

ϒ⁄A frame slip alarm or an error code alarm is generated during signaling collecting with the LMT.

Possible Causes

The possible causes are as follows:

ϒ⁄The unified gateway is not grounded.

ϒ⁄The clock sources is not configured on the unified gateway.

ϒ⁄The E1/T1 trunk cable has failed.

ϒ⁄The media resrouce board has failed.

ϒ⁄The peer device has failed.

Procedure

1.Connect the ground line of the unified gateway again to check whether the fault is rectified.

ϒ⁄If the fault is rectified, the troubleshooting process is complete.

ϒ⁄If the fault persists, go to the next step.

2.Run the show system clocksource information command to check whether the clock source is configured.

ϒ⁄If the preceding information is displayed, the clock source is not configured. Run the config system clocksource command to configure it.

ϒ⁄If the clock source is configured, go to the next step.

3.Check whether the trunk cable is connected right, this is the TX must connect to RX.

ϒ⁄If no, connect the cable again.

ϒ⁄If yes, change the cable to check whether the fault is rectified.

If the fault is rectified, the troubleshooting process is complete. If the fault persists, go to the next step.

4.Change the media resource board to check whether the fault is rectified.

ϒ⁄If the fault is rectified, the troubleshooting process is complete.

ϒ⁄If the fault persists, go to the next step.

5.Contact the peer office's engineers to check whether the peer device runs normally.

ϒ⁄If yes, contact to the peer office's engineers to troubleshoot.

ϒ⁄If no, go to the next step.

6.If the fault still persists, collect detailed fault information and related logs by referring to Collecting and Reporting Fault Information and send them to the service provider.
