Both parties in a video call must have the video capability. If either party does not have the video capability, a call is automatically switched to a voice call.
When a calling party initiates a video call, the called party can choose the answer mode, voice call or video call. A video call is set up only when the called party selects the video call mode.
You can switch between voice calls and video calls.
In a video call, either party can end the video transmission and continue with the voice call. When either party hangs up in a video call, the communication ends.
[Scenario 1] Internal video call
ϒ⁄Directly initiating a video call
The phones of users A and B both support the video function. User A initiates a video call to user B. User B answers the call in video call mode. A video call is set up between user A and user B. When either party hangs up, the call ends.
ϒ⁄Switching from a voice call to a video call
The phones of users A and B both support the video function. User A initiates a video call to user B. User B answers the call in voice call mode. A voice call is set up between user A and user B. During the conversation, user B presses Video on the personal phone. The call switches to a video call. When either party hangs up, the call ends.
ϒ⁄Switching from a video call to a voice call
Users A and B are in a video call. User B ends the video. The call switches to a voice call. When either party hangs up, the call ends.
[Scenario 2] Video call between an internal user and an external user
A OpenVox PBX uses a SIP trunk to connect to the PBX of another vendor. Internal user A's phone registers with the OpenVox PBX, and external user B's phone registers with the PBX of the vendor. The phones of users A and B both support the video function. Either user A or user B can make a video call to each other.
ϒ⁄The phones of both parties must support the video function and have at least one common audio and video codec.
ϒ⁄P2P video calls are available to intra-office IP users who communicate with each other using the SIP protocol and available between IP users and external users who communicate with each other using SIP trunks.
