R2 signaling
Signaling used by the CSOFTX3000 to interwork with the PSTN exchanges that support R2 signaling only. R2 signaling enables the CSOFTX3000 to provide CAS trunks through the MGW. As the telecom network is very large in scale, it is hard to replace channel associated signaling completely with SS7 signaling in a short time span. By far, the channel associated signaling system is still used in the international telecom network and telecom networks of various countries. No. 1 signaling is a subset of the R2 signaling. R2 signaling consists of Line signaling and Register signaling. Of these two kinds of signaling, the definition varies from country to country. Line signaling is transmitted between line devices (repeaters). It is composed of line monitoring signals. It is used for monitoring the status of connection of trunks and controlling the connection. A line device cannot be shared among trunks. Instead, each trunk must have a line device. Therefore, line signaling is relatively simple to reduce costs, and the types of line signaling are few. Register signaling is transmitted between registers. It is composed of selection signals and service signals. It is used for selecting route and called party and managing the telephone network. A register is a shared device. Few registers are needed in a signaling network; therefore, a register can be a complex device for matching more kinds of signaling.
RADIUS
Remote Authentication Dial In User Service.
RBT service
real-time alarm
A type of alarm that is reported by the device in real time and that is filtered.
Real-time Transport Control Protocol
Real time Transport Control Protocol (RTCP) is used to monitor data delivery. RTCP enables the receiver to detect if there is any packet loss and to compensate for any delay jitter.
Real-time Transport Protocol
A type of host-to-host protocol used in real-time multimedia services such as Voice over IP (VoIP) and video.
reboot
To start the system again. Programs or data will be reloaded to all boards.
Recording
A function that records the speech of a user into a voice file and save the file to a specific folder on the file server.
redirection number
A forwarding destination number set by a subscriber who has subscribed to the call forwarding service, that is, a number to which an incoming call to the subscriber is forwarded.
redundancy
1. It refers to the scheme to add more than one channels, elements or parts that have the same functions with the counterparts in the system or device at a critical place. When a fault occurs, the system or device can work well, and the reliability is then improved. 2. In the transmission of data, the excess of transmitted message symbols over that required to convey the essential information in a noise-free circuit. Note: Redundancy may be introduced intentionally (as in the case of error detection or correction codes)
registration
A database repository for information about a computer's configuration. The registration contains information that Windows continually references during operation, such as: profiles for each user; the programs installed on the computer and the types of documents that each can create; property settings for folders and program icons; what hardware exists on the system; which ports are being used.
Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service
A service that defines how the network access server (NAS) and RADIUS server transmits user information and charging information to each other. RADIUS uses the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) as its transmission protocol to ensure the real-time quality. RADIUS also supports the retransmission and multi-service mechanisms to ensure good reliability.
resource tracing
An operation performed to trace the resource usage of a board, for example, the CPU usage and memory usage, status of the digital signal processor (DSP) channel, and status of the E1/T1 circuit.
Restoring data
A method for retrieving lost data from damage or an improper operation.
Ring Back Tone service
An intelligent network-based service customized by the subscriber. It changes the traditional tone to colorful RBTs. After customizing the RBT service, subscribers can set the ring back tone to beautiful music, natural sounds or speech.
RJ-45
RJ-45: Short for Registered Jack-45, an eight-wire connector used commonly to connect computers onto a local-area networks (LAN), especially Ethernets. RJ-45 connectors look similar to the ubiquitous RJ-11 connectors used for connecting telephone equipment, but they are somewhat wider.
route
A route is the path that network traffic takes from its source to its destination. In a TCP/IP network, each IP packet is routed independently. Routes can change dynamically.
routine maintenance
It is a set of preventive measures taken regularly to discover and eliminate potential defects or faults of the device or system in time, and to ensure long-term safety and stability of the device or system.
RTCP
See Real-time Transport Control Protocol
RTP
See Real-time Transport Protocol
RX
It is the receiving end of the interface that signals pass through.
