backplane

A circuit board providing the Zone 1 and Zone 2 connectors for board slots and supporting power distribution, management, and auxiliary signal connections. Link ports of the slots are connected through high-speed signal twisted pairs.

bearer network

A network used to carry the messages of a transport-layer protocol between physical devices.

bill

A list through which a carrier provides the service fee information periodically for a subscriber. A bill records the information such as the final balance and the fees for using the services and products. Bills are classified into detail bills and summary bills. A carrier charges a subscriber according to the information on the bill.

billServer

A server that exchanges bills with the  UScale X1960 hosts. It can store and process the binary bills from multiple  UScale X1960 hosts.

bind numbers

To bind the account ID of a subscriber to the unified gateway number so that the subscriber can obtain the service or operation rights that the unified gateway number has.

blacklist and whitelist

A method that the system determines whether to connect a call based on the preset restriction relation between the home group of the calling party and the home group of the called party.

BMU

board

Board refers to an electronic part that can be plugged in to provide new capability. It comprises chips and electronic components and these components are always on a flat and hard base and connected through conductive paths. A board provides ports for upstream connections or service provisioning.

break-in service

A service that allows the attendant to break in on the conversation between two common users. Then, the three parties can converse.

bus

A path or channel for signal transmission. The typical case is that, the bus is an electrical connection that connects one or more conductors. All devices that are connected to a bus, can receive all transmission contents simultaneously.

business management unit

The service management system that is based on the browser/server structure. The Business Management Unit (BMU) provides functions such as self-service, charging management, and call conference management. Subscribers perform operations on the Web pages to realize the functions.

Busy Hour Call Attempts

The number of call attempts during the busiest hour of the day. BHCA cover successful calls and unsuccessful call attempts.

Busy Hour Completed Call

Number of calls completed on the current exchange in the busiest hour on a day, containing incoming and outgoing calls.

busy tone

A tone that indicates that the called number is busy. This tone is of 480 Hz to 620 Hz and repeated 60 times per minute.

busy/idle status area

The area on the console client where the current information about the attendant is displayed. The information about the phone number, group ID, and status of the attendant is displayed.
