fan

A device for creating a current of air by movement of a surface or surfaces.

Fast Ethernet

A type of Ethernet with a maximum transmission rate of 100 Mbit/s. It complies with the IEEE 802.3u standard and extends the traditional media-sharing Ethernet standard.

Fault alarm

Alarm caused by hardware and/or software faults, for example, board failure, or by the exception of major functions. After handling, a fault alarm can be cleared, upon which the NE reports a recovery alarm. Fault alarms are of higher severity than event alarms.

fax extension

A number that must be dialed when a user sends a fax to a UMS user.

fax mailbox

A virtual mailbox used to store faxes. The user can obtain faxes from the mailbox by fax machine or email.

fax mailbox service with unified access code

A service that allows the caller to dial the unified access code for sending faxes on the fax machine. Then, the call is forwarded to the UMS. The caller sends faxes to the callee according to prompts.

fee rate

The call charges within a specific period.

filler panel

A piece of board to cover vacant slots, to keep the frame away from dirt, to keep proper airflow inside the frame, and to beautify the frame appearance.

final bill

The last bill provided by a carrier to a subscriber after the subscriber leaves from the network of a carrier. Regardless of the type of the bill that the subscriber subscribes to, the carrier sends a paper bill to the subscriber after the subscriber leaves from the network of the carrier.

final CDR

After receiving original CDRs, the charging NEs processes the CDRs as follows: Saves the final CDRs to the hard disk. Sorts the CDRs and converts their format. Saves the CDRs processed to the hard disk based on a specific classification. The carriers use the final CDRs to charge the subscribers and to process the inter-network settlement. Generally, the billing center automatically and periodically retrieves the final CDRs from the hard disk of the charging NEs through the network.

forced release service

A service that allows the attendant to release a conversation of an intra-office user forcibly when necessary. The attendant may release the conversation when there is a toll call to this user or for other reasons.

FTP

To download files from or upload files to remote computer system, via the Internet's File Transfer Protocol.

fully loaded

A state that indicates that all slots of a piece of equipment are in use, that is, the equipment has no vacant slots.
